The Silent Raccoon

So, this is the pattern for my design The Silent Raccoon. The raccoon doesn't say much, but if you make it, and use a thin yarn and needle size 2.5, the height will be about 17 cm if the raccoon sits down, and 23 cm if it decides to stand up. And yes, I use the yarn "Tilda" from SvartaFåret again. I always do. (Safety eyes size: 12 mm.)

For this particular racoon, you will have to start of sort of backways, making the eyes and back of the eyes first. This because you will have to attach those parts during the making of the skull and body. So first thing, you need to have the eye parts prepared - as "usual", you will find a sort-of-image-tutorial at the end of the pattern. Let's Raccoon away!

Part I. The Eyes (Black yarn and safety eyes)
1) Magic circle (6)
2) 2 sc in each st (12)

6) 3 sc in each of the next 3 sts then 1 sc in the remaining sts (27)

Part VIII. Assemble the Raccoon!

Image tutorial (sort of):
The back of the eyes with safety eyes attached.
While making the head/body, attach the back of the eyes with the safety eyes while crocheting. Sew the edges after stuffing the head.

Placing the ears.
Body parts.
The attachement of the muzzle. Leave a small gap
when it's almost attached - stuff the muzzle
through that hole, then sew the rest of the sts.

Hope you made it. Let me know if you found any problems with the pattern!

  4. When I do the head I get to the 15-23 and it doesn't seem like the head is coming out right. Am I doing 1 sc in each st(84x) for 9 rows? Or am I doing 2 sc in each st for 9 rows? I'm just confused at what "I sc st in each st for 9 rows" means. Please help!!

    1. I'm really, reallt sorry for replying this late! You've probably given up or solved it by now but: it is supposed to be 1 single crochet in each stitch for 9 rows (84 sc x 9 times). The head is meant to be oval. Hope you made it! ❤

  6. Hi from Finland! How did you make the black tip of the muzzle? And also noticed a typo: in the muzzle part 9) it says number of stitches is 15 when it should be 27. Love this pattern, can't wait to finish it!

  7. Thanks for a great pattern! I did mine in a more blueish color and even though it's not as perfect as your the one-year-old receiver was happy.

  9. What a cute critter. I made your fox too. FYI; The tail needs to indicate Line 11 is black for 5 rows then row 15 grey. I guessed at the nose embroidery. I used a G hook and he's 9" tall. Adorable.

  13. Hello,
This looks sooo cute! Looking forward to make it!
Could you tell me how much of the yarn you used. Would 50 g be enough?
And if colours black, grey and light grey from this Tilda yarn would be the right match?
Thank you for this amazing pattern!
    Regards,
    Z.

  14. Hey!
This is realy a very cute raccoon. I noticed a little mistake for the black eye part. In the last row it should be 30 stiches instead of 27, since your adding 6 stiches at the beginning instead of 3 like in the 2 rows earlier. Got confused the first time I tried to crochet it and did it all over again until I noticed what was wrong.

  15. So I'd like to use the Debbie Bliss Aran Cashmerino which says it's supposed to be used with a 5 mm crochet hook. I usually use this size and weight for the few amigurimis that I've done but this pattern is calling for a much smaller hook. Can I just proceed with my regular yarn and hook?
